Acts of Kindness Program

The story behind the mascot for the parade, Jaime the Elf, was written by local artist, Kathleen Sheridan in 1995. In the quest for her Elfhood, Jaime discovers that only in the light of love, peace and hope does the true spirit of the season shine. "Jaime the Elf" is a story about the true meaning of the holiday season, and encourages children to think about what acts of kindness they can do during the holiday season to help Jaime light up downtown Hollister.

The "Acts of Kindness" Program, sponsored by Pacific Scientific, was presented to the schools in San Benito County requesting students K-8 to submit their Acts of Kindness to help Jaime. Thanks to over 200 students from R.O. Hardin, Ladd Lane, Spring Grove, and Tres Pinos Schools, there will be enough lights for Santa to find Downtown Hollister for the Lights On Parade starting at 5:30. There will be students representing each school on the PGE Acts of Kindness Float in the parade.

All of the submissions will be displayed at Blak Sage Gallery during the Lights On Celebration. The hardbound book, "Jaime the Elf" can be purchased at jaimetheelf.com, San Benito Bene, or Blak Sage Gallery. All proceeds benefit the Lights On Celebration.

Kathleen Sheridan will be available at the Holiday Boutique between 10:00 am and 8:30 pm. for book signing. See the Hollister Downtown Association's booth for times.
