Membership renewal notices have been sent out with a special
six-month rate; please be sure to send in your check as soon as
possible, and don't forget to remind your neighbor business to
join; applications are available on our website. The HDA
currently has 107 members; let's aim for 120 members in 2011.
The Organization Committee is busy working at the Fireworks
booth in the Safeway parking lot; stop by and get your fireworks
and help support Lights On Celebration. The San Benito County
Fair is not until October 1, 2010, but the Committee is already
working on our booth. If your business or organization would
like to participate, please contact the HDA office.

The Promotion Committee is marketing the Downtown Club Cards
at 50% off the regular price of $20, with a big July push
for sales and business participation.
Movies Under the Stars
will begin on Thursday, July 8th and
run consecutively for four weeks; sponsorships are still
welcome. The HDA will participate in National Independents
Week, July 1st through July 7th with a
Scavenger Hunt at participating businesses in Downtown
Hollister. A prize of $200 will be awarded. The
24th Annual Street
Festival will be on Saturday, July 17 and
businesses are invited to participate with promotions,
sidewalk sales, and specials. The
20th Annual Lights On
Celebration is already in production with hopes
of fireworks over the city to help celebrate this milestone;
sponsorships are welcome. The theme for this year's event is
"Celebration of Lights". In February of 2011, a new event
called Hollister Get
Red, celebrating Heart, Health, and Happiness is
in the planning process. If your business or organization
would like to participate in this month long event, please
contact the HDA.

Updated 07/01/2010
-
The hanging flower baskets have been installed along
San Benito Street; a new sponsorship
program (complete with plaque attached to the street pole) is in
process to help fund future phases of planter installations.
With the completion of the core Historic Structure Report for
the Granda Theatre, the HDA is moving forward, along with a
letter from the building owner, asking the City of
Hollister to include the Theatre on a
local historic resource list. This will enable use of the
California Historic Building Code for renovations. A new Local
Historic Resources Commission should be appointed by the City of
Hollister by the end of August. The newly
formed Commission will be able to work with property owners and
the City to maximize their participation in national programs
geared for renovation of historic buildings, ultimately saving
dollars.
Chair - Gordon Machado (Rustic
Turtle Embroidery Works)

Design & Build),
Anne Hall, Stephanie Hicks (SBC Arts Council), David Huboi (Huboi Architectural Services), Mary Paxton (City of Hollister

Updated 07/01/2010

The
PBID surveys are coming in slower than
anticipated and the total is currently standing
at 39%; the Committee will continue to work
towards a 50% total within the next few months.
The Committee has also been working with the
Economic Development Corporation on an economic
development brochure promoting all of
San Benito
County, including a
special section on Downtown Hollister. This will
be a great tool for recruiting new businesses to
Downtown. A letter in support of a water main
replacement along
San Benito Street
(rather than repair) was sent to the City of
Hollister. The Downtown
Parking Subcommittee responded to Chief Millar
with additional recommendations for his report
to the City of
Hollister.
Chair - Jerry Muenzer (Muenzer's Cyclery
& Sports Center)
Current committee

(Hollister City Council), Marilyn Ferreira (Intero Real Estate
