About the Hollister Downtown Association
The Mission
of the Hollister Downtown Association
A typical day in downtown Hollister,
California.
The Hollister Downtown
Association was established in 1984 to
revitalize
historic downtown Hollister to be the hub of
social and economic activity in our
community. We utilize the Main
Street Four-Point Approach methodology
designed by The National Trust for Historic
Preservationa community-driven,
comprehensive approach to revitalize older,
traditional business districts throughout
the United States.
The Main Street Approach advocates a return
to community self-reliance, local
empowerment, and the rebuilding of
traditional commercial districts based on
their unique assets: distinctive
architecture, a pedestrian-friendly
environment, personal service, local
ownership, and a sense of community.
The HDA is a
professionally staffed 501(c)6 non-profit
organization and is represented by a
volunteer governing board. We have one
full-time Executive Director and three
part-time staff, and accrued 4,704 volunteer
hours in 2010.
