Downtown Hollister
Attracting Visitors & Businesses
It won't be long before signage
will be directing visitors to "Historic Downtown Hollister". The
Hollister Downtown Association has mapped out 14 locations for new
signs, and with the help of the City of Hollister and the RDA, this
important signage project is nearly a reality. Visitors will be
able to find our restaurants and retail stores for shopping, including
some of the new establishments just opening this Fall.
The downtown is bursting with new
businesses. Hotpockets, a women's jean boutique will open
its doors at 439 San Benito Street, right next door to Roxy's Lil'
Cafe. Illusions, is located on the other side of
Roxy's at 443 San Benito Street and will provide for all your
party needs, from decorations to tables and chairs. Deborah
Wood, owner of Drapoel, is opening a new junior fashion
boutique called Teezers in the same building at 729 San Benito
Street. Finally, Broken Wing, a night club, will be opening in
the old Pendegrass Hotel at 500 San Benito Street. Watch for
more information on the grand opening in this historic building.
The Pendegrass Hotel is just one of
the many charming historic buildings in downtown Hollister, and the
HDA is working on a program that will bring attention to these
beauties from our past. The Hollister Heritage Plaque Program is
in the works where building owners will be able to purchase a plaque
for their building, providing another marketing opportunity and
another reason for visitors to stroll the streets of downtown
Hollister, enjoying our wonderful architectural history.
Lights On
Celebration Right Around the Corner
Plans are underway for the 15th
Annual Lights On Celebration in our historic downtown. This
year's event will take place Saturday, November 26th from 5:00 - 8:30
pm. Event goers will enjoy the return of the magical Lights On
Parade, the lighting of downtown, pictures with Santa, live
entertainment, merchant open houses, Santa's Village, and the 30
decorated Christmas trees from the Decorate A Tree Project.
If you have something special
planned for that day and/or evening, please let us know so that we can
include your information in press releases to the media for the event.

Decked Out Windows
Downtown HDA members are invited to
get their windows all decked out for this holiday season and
participate in the annual window decorating contest.
This year's contest features 3
categories: Best Decorated Display, Best Decorated Window, and
Best Decorated Window Using the Lights On Celebration Parade theme.
Great prizes for the winners! Contact Barbara Scott at 623-2575
if you would like more information or would like to participate.
Tree Lights Sponsors
Needed
We currently have 76 trees that
each need to find a sponsor so that they can be strung with twinkle
lights and help add to the festive ambiance of downtown during the
holidays. Sponsorship for a tree is $100 for 1 year or $150 for
two years. This sponsorship helps with the cost, maintenance and
installation of these twinkle lights each year. In addition, a
bell-shaped plaque will hang from each tree featuring the sponsor's
name or business name.

Form.
